I have an install of BOE XI R2, with SP1, MHF1 and CHF16 (11.5.7.811). This has been very stable for us for several years now, so I really haven’t touched it in quite a while. Recently, we have noticed that almost all reports are no longer running, they get stuck in a “pending” status. I have duplicated this - whether I schedule them from the InfoView or the CMC, I get the same result. It also doesn’t matter if I schedule it to run Now, or “Once” right away.
I would TRULY appreciate any info or insight on this. What can I check on to try and troubleshoot/resolve this issue?
I noticed that you said “almost all reports are no longer running”. Do you have specific reports that run, and reports that don’t run, or is it random?
Are you sure that the problem is not that the queue is full and the reports are taking a long time to start processing? Checking the “Metrics” tab of the Job Servers in the CMC would tell you that.
For the reportjobserver:
Number of Jobs Processing Now: 5
Total Number of Job Requests Received: 5
So what is the best way to try and resolve this? Should I bump up the number for the Maximum jobs allowed, from 5 to a higher number? Is there any way to see the current jobs running and try and kill them?
Yep, I would first check what’s running – maybe they’re legitimate, or maybe they’ll run forever. The instance manager will tell you that: businessobjects/enterprise115/adminlaunch/instancesByStatus
We are having a similar problem on scheduled jobs delivered to email recipients as PDF attachments.
Instance manager tells me they are pending but they do not move. Oddly enough, there are other scheduled jobs running consistently that have no issues. A set of scheduled reports went out the evening of 7/31, but the one schedule for the morning of 8/1 are still there.
I have restarted all servers, and restarted the server. Report Job Server has no jobs processing now. Instance manager reports no jobs running.
Running XI R2, SP2, no fix packs that I am aware of.
