Report with 75 tabs ... Is this feasible?

Hello Seniors,

I have been asked to create a report for the foll requirements :

  1. 5 different regions of EMEA
  2. For each region, 5 different product groups
  3. For each product group, there are 3 different report tabs
    so, totally, 5 * 5 * 3 = 75 tabs in one single report !!

Is this a feasible solution ? or should I go for 5 separate reports for each of the 5 EMEA regions ?

Please suggest … Your guidance is highly appreciated.

Kind Regards,
SaDSha

You need to consider:
Volume of information on each tab.
Logical collection of data
Who the audience is for each tab.

I’d be bored after tab 4 though.

Hi SaDSha,

Are you planning to implement this in Thick client or thin client.

In which version of Business Objects !!!

Thanks!!

Hi All,

Many thanks for your reply …

I am using BO XI R2 …

By the way, each report tab will be have a max of 2 pages each !!

Who is going to read all 150 pages?

Is it to be distributed to different recipients?

Its a particular requirement from a Sales Team Heads.
Yes, they are going to analyse this data seriously … by going thru all the pages of each region / product group.

Also, would like to know if is there any limitation on the number of tab pages in BO XI R2 …

yes, it will be distributed as an excel spreadsheet to their email ids.
2-3 people would be recieving this report.

As far as my bo knowledge and experience, I recommand you to make several reports. In fact, webintelligence document with so many tabe is a suicide and i dare it would become too big, too huge to open or load and will one day become corrupted. (and you will lose your stuff…)
So, you should make several reports to avoid this.

Hi SaDSha,

Is drilling not an option for your report :?:
You may consider adding an appropriate hierarchy to your universe to do this all in one tab; Region – Product Group :+1: .

I have certainly had problems with XI2 reports becoming corrupt and when it has happened it has normally been bigger reports with lots of tabs.

I personally would be very hesitant to build anything with more than 10-15 tabs.

It is not ideal but I would have 3 tabs (one for each Report Type). Then on each tab I would have a section on Region-Product which would mean 25 pages on each tab.

Should be much easier to maintain and I don’t have to change my report if new Products or Regions are added.

Webi seems happier with pages than tabs in my experience.
