Report Footer vs. Page Footer (or a Blank Section?)

Hey folks:

I need to keep my page footers with document infomation as they are, displaying on every page.

I aslo need to display a text cell of varying length (autoadjust height) at the end of the report. But I don’t find any “Report Footer” as I know it from Crystal in WEBI.

If I just drop the field into the body of the report after the data table, it displays on the first page overlapped by the data table, not at the end of the data display. That makes me think I should put it in an empty section following the section containing the data… But I don’t see how to create a new section and BO documentation is woefully lacking.

Anybody have any words of wisdom?

Jody

Hi,

In webi you can use relative attachements to make the cell appear at the end of the report

(top attachment to the block bottom)

It works and even if the table row count changes after a resresh data, the cell will no be overlapped.

Hope this helps,
Regards

Webi also supports page headers & footers. For that you have to turn on the page layout mode. And in header & footer you put free standing cells and display document informations.

Thanks Anil. Page headers and footers weren’t a problem. Just needed a way to simulate a report footer…

I’m pretty new to WEBi (and BO- and this forum) - how do I ‘turn on the page layout mode’ ?

When you are in Edit mode of a Webi report, just click on “View Page Layout”, then click on “Properties” on left panel, select “Report Properties”, you can see “Page Headers and Footers”, then you can set the height and width of Page headers and Footers. Headers and footers will show up on each page of your report. If the height is 0, you won’t see header or footer.

Thnaks for prompt response.

I’ve tried this, and set bothe header and footer heights to 30, and set background colour to pink to make easy to see.
The header is appearing OK, but no footer - any idea why ?

Also - how do I get any text/images etc. into the headers and footers ?

As you can see I’m very much a learner - but willing

If you click on “View Structure”, you are able to see the headers and footers. If you still can’t see the footer, that means the height is not set in the left panel of “Properties”–>“Report Properties”.

To insert an image, you can find a lot postings if you search “logo” or “image”. Anyhow, you can insert an empty cell in the page header section (anywhere you want), then in “Cell Format” under “Properties”, type in your url for the logo or image in the "Url: " box under “Image”. You have to make sure you put your image/logo on the server in the image folder.

The size of image can’t be adjusted in Webi report. You have to adjust the size of image before you put it on the server.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

but where will I find the image folder, or do I have to create this ?

Should this be created as part of installation - automatically ? or otherwise ?

We are on a Windows 2003 Enterprise platform

And remember that images will not be exported to an Excel file.

That is right. Any images in BO report won’t be exported to an Excel file. If you save the report as .xls, you will lose the image/logo in the report.

By the way, the image folder is located on your BO Server:

C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 11\Images

Does this apply to XI R2, as well, or just XI? I can’t seem to find the Header/Footer properties.

Thanks.

Go to View Structure, and page layout so that you can see the page borders. Then put your cursor on the report border, you will see on the left panel – Properties, header/footer height, set it to certain number, you can see the footer. Check the document from your CD, Webi user guide.
