Report data change in XI 3.1 aftr migration from BO 6.5

Hi,
We have just begun carrying out a migration from Businessbjects 6.5 to XI 3.1. On migrating a thick client report to Desktop Intelligence XI 3.1, I realized that data in the report had changed considerably although all variables read exactly the same formula. I understand that there are calculation engine changes between the two releases.

My question to the experts here is… How do I counter this problem? It wouldn’t be right to say that data in my BOBJ 6.5 reports was wrong and now right in XI 3.1. But if its wrong in XI 3.1, how do I rectify this?
The migration guide speaks of a Desktop Intelligence Calculation Changes and a Web Intelligence Calculation Changes which don’t seem to be available on http://help.sap.com
A Google search gives the document: Web Intelligence calculation changes in XI R2 SP2 which again is not greatly of help.

Please advice!!

Thanks!!

Rahul

Hi Rahul,

Is your datasources changed during the Migration? Probably no.
If so, then please try validating all the report variables, purge the document and see. Might return the correct numbers.
Others can chip in with more check points.
Thanks…

Rahul,
Ideally when you do migration you need to adopt the Migration methodology as mentioned in PDF. And as you mentione there are calculation engine changes which is causing the diff in values and their rresults.
I suggest to do a regression testing for all the reports the have migrated with checkpoints like formtting, variables, measures, breaks etc
This can help you to make sure everything working as required exceot few limitation. I know this is tedious but this is what approach we have adopted and it was success

Hope this helps
