Report Conversion Tool 3.1 - needed permissions?

Hi–

We’re just starting XIR2->3.1 testing, and I’m trying to work with the Report Conversion Tool. I’m working with a really simple report, as a user in the Administrators group, who should have full control of RCT, Deski, Webi, and the related report folders, but I’m still getting Deski or Webi errors (either report cannot be read or document cannot be created - it seems to alternate). I can refresh the doc with no problem via Deski or InfoView, and can access the universe with no problems in Designer.

Am I missing something in permissions? Or, we copied the R2 CMS to 3.1 use the cmdbsetup script and then updateobjects - do I need to do anything else to the R2 report? (Although, I tried creating a report in Deski 3.1 and get the same error, so doubt it’s a document-specific issue).

I should note that I’m running in to the SI_GUID uniqueness issue — so it’s hard to tell whether that could be involved or not ---- does the RCT try to log in user in again, behind the scenes, in the course of the conversion process?

Thanks,
Amy Miller

And a related question – are there needed desktop permissions for the Report Conversion Tool? I was still running in to the error I described above, even had a tech support case (not yet resolved). Late this afternoon, for another reason, I needed desktop admin rights granted and tried the same report conversion again, and it worked! But, what’s the RCT doing at the desktop level if I’m going from a folder on the repository to another one?

Thanks,
Amy

I did finally resolve this myself — it turned out that it seems to be a matter of desktop rights. It was misleading, since I was going from one repository folder to another, and the error I got referenced the Webi Server. But, when I had admin rights restored to resolve an issue with Webi Rich Client, lo and behold RCT worked as well.
