Hii
We have some desktop intelligence reports and we would like to convert them to Web intelligence report using Report Conversion tool. All these Deski reports were create in xir2 and using universe xyz1.

Now they want me to convert all these report and change the data saource i.e from universe xyz1 to xyz2 which is our new updated universe.
I dont know how to do this I would really appreciate any inputs

Hi Ravins23,

You have at least two options…
Change the universe used in DeskI (before you convert)
Change the universe used in WebI (after you convert)

Both options will take about the same amount of effort/time assuming you have a small number of reports (<20 or so) to change universes on. If you have more than say 100 reports, there may be other options you would want to consider.

I have like 50-60 reports to be converted. I am planning to use Dave rathbun’s technique (Save as universe a and b the overwrite universe b over a).
Was wondering whether we have an option in Xir2 where i can directly change the data source from one universe to another. If yes can you please tell me how to do that.

I am guessing, you want to change the Data Source… if that is correct, then Yes.

In Designer, Go to Parameters from File Menu… and change it there.

But i want to change the universe at report level can i do that in Webi Xir2.

Suppose i have a report which is accessing data from universe 1 now we have an updated Universe 2.
So how do i change data access for the that report from universe 1 to universe 2.

My report should access data from universe 2.

Yes, you can do it in XI R2. For a WebI report:

– Open the WebI report
– Go to Edit query
– Click Properties
– You’ll see ‘Universe’ this query is pointing to.
– Select … and choose the universe.

Repeat the same for each DP.
