relative position of two tables

I have two tables in the report.
the records in first table vary when refreshing the data.
sometimes it overlap the second table.
how can I define the relative position of second table depends on the length of first table?

I tried to use the apperance setting. but it is based on the top of first table instead of the end of first table. when the data vary, i either get a big gap between two table or overlapping. :frowning:

please advise.

Welcome to B:bob:B!

Give the first table a name. Then go to the appearance tab of the properties of the second tab and position it vertically relative to the first table - there should be the name of the first table in the drop down menu where you select relatively to what to position the second table.

thanks for your repond, Marek.

actually I did exactly the same as you suggested, but BO seems behave differently.

after setting the relative position of tab2 against tab1, it was fine with current data.

then i try to refresh, data grows in tab1. Tab2 seems still in the same ‘relative’ position as before refreshing data and casue overlap. :frowning:

could it be a bug in my rather old version 5.1.7 BO running on VISTA?

It could be, it certainly not a supported configuration. What exactly do you see at the moment when you look at the positioning dialogue box?

i believe my setting is correct.
(try to attach the setting for second tab. I called the first tab as small_tab.)

Hi,

Use only vertical position relative to the first table. Keep the default value (upper section) for the horizontal position.

still no luck. :frowning:

the relative position is not really ‘relative’ after refreshing more data.

I think i have to convince the business to upgrade BO…

The above works for me very well. So it’s perhaps your using BO 5.x on Vista that’s causing the problem.

Yes, BO 5.x has not been a supported version for a long long time. So it’s time to upgrade
