For one of our departments we are now installing BO 4.1.1 in Prague (Windows NT). The database (Oracle 7.3) and the repositorys are in Amsterdam. Installations have been succesful. As soon as we try to import a report from the repository, BO just quits. Importing from the repo in Amsterdam worked fine, so the repository is OK. The same thing happens when we try to open one of the reports from the beach universe. The regional settings are Czech. If we change these to English, everything works fine. Only all other software used there won’t work so this is no option. Has anyone encountered this before, what was your solution? This problem is very urgent, so quick answers would be very much appreciated.
I don’t know if this would work or not, but you sound desperate:
From Amsterdam, try changing the regional settings to Czech and importing
from the repo. Does that work? If so, re-save and re-export the report to the repo with a new name, indicating the different regional setting. Then try importing from Prague again.
If that doesn’t work, try importing the report from the repo from Amsterdam with regional settings = English. Then change regional settings to Czech, re-save and re-export the report to the repo with a new name.
I heard about such problems with BusinessObjects on localized OS such as a Czech platform.
It seems that the CHARSET.DAT file from BusinessObjects’ main directory could be the one to incriminate!
I do not know anything about this file, but try to remove it (temporarily… just to see ;-}) before running again BusinessObjects. If anybody else has a better idea, or knows more on this CHARSET.DAT file, I am interested!
Farfadet.

Try to remove (rename) the “charset.dat” file in the BusinessObjects installation folder, perhaps this will help (but if it doesn, don’t ask me, why)…
