I have undocked the field tree in the formula editor and I can’t get it redocked. I searched the BO KB and could only find info on Crystal 10 and older. I found a post on a yahoo board that said to right click on the field tree window, choose Allow Docking, then move it where you want. This works on the function tree and operator tree, but not the field tree. Has anyone else found a way to do this?
I’m using Crystal 9 and this problem drove me NUTS for nearly 2 years!
Same deal, couldn’t find any way of redocking the Report Fields tree. Seems to completely ignore the Allow Docking on the context menu.
The way I finally rectified the issue was to hack the registry and blow away everything under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Crystal Decisions\9.0\Crystal Reports\Formula Workshop
When I restarted Crystal the field tree was reset and docked.
Good luck!
Cheers,
Steve
What’s the next step when neither of the above methods work.
This happened before and I change the key according to the BO doc and it fixed it. Now it’s still set to f000 and even deleting the display keys in the registry doesn’t work.
The BO doc only addresses Crystal 8, 9, and 10. I’ve searched for an update for XI but haven’t been able to find one.
I think that the service packs and/or hot fixes may also play a role. I have XI installed on another PC, same version (11.0.0.1994) but I’m not sure that they have the same service packs & hot fixes installed, or if they were installed in the same order. On the second PC, I can undock and redock the field tree with no problem. Where can I see which service packs and hot fixes have been applied?
I ran into this issue myself as well. The registry path is slightly different in XI than in previous versions. And although I set the key value to ‘f000’ and it didn’t work, I did delete the structure in the registry which reset the Formula Editor and the field tree was docked again. To get it to work do this:
Close CRXI
Open regedit and delete the following path (highlight ‘Formula’, right-click, click on delete):
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Business Objects\Suite 11.0\Crystal Reports\Formula Workshop\Formula
Restart CRXI
Open the formula editor and the field tree will be docked again.
You can also just double click on the attached zipped file (extract it first) for item #2 above.
Awesome suggestion and worked in XI for me, ie, editing the regedit - folder is in a different spot but search for the folder name, leave the top file in it, blow out the rest and restarting Crystal XI puts in back in the default view - has this yet been automated as I can’t edit the register where I work - locked down TIGHT! Thanks!
