If I am upgrading from Business Objects 5.1.3 server to a new 5.1.8 server, how do I transport the data? Do we take the MDF/LDF from the databases to the new server?, where or how do we get the Universes/Reports/etc to the new server? Just by copying the subfolders?

I might ask you what MDF/LDF means?
Typically, you would install the new software on the new server, after installing and configuring your database middleware. Then you would copy the BOMain.key file into the LocData folder. As universes and corporate documents are needed, they’ll be retrieved from the repository, so you shouldn’t have to explicitly copy anything.
If you want to preserve user preferences and personal documents, you’d then copy some or all of the files from within x:\Program Files\Business Objects\Server\WebIntelligence 2.5\Storage…
