QaaWS prompts - Xcelsius

Hi All,

I am using Xcelsius 2008 Enterprise, I have created a basic QaaWS with prompts and
connected via data manager in Xcelsius. How do I get the prompts appearing in Xcelsius?

Hi,

why would you need prompt to appear in xcelsius?

You should supply them the value by binding them with the inbuilt excel sheet.

I dont understand the reason of having prompts then in QaaWS?

I think I dont quite understand your answer…

Shin,

After you click on “Import” putting the WS url…

You get input and output values section diplayed below.

Input is the place where your paramters has to be fed with values.

Do you see “Read From” and excel sheet binding link there?

Hi, I have carried out all the below…but I cant still see how the prompt from QaaWS will work in the dashboard or how I can select a prompt?

Its simple… lets say you select a particular value from the list -> you will then write it as filtered value somewhere in the excel cell -> map this cell to the parameter in web service.

PS - your webservice should have that value as filter, when you create the web service.

  1. Create a QaaWS object with a prompt
  2. In Xcelsius, in the Data Manager, create an connection that uses your QaaWs object
  3. Create a Combo box component and fill it will values that will be appropriate for values that you would use in your prompt.
  4. Make sure to point the Combo Box properties to a specific cell (A1)
  5. Go back to the Data Manger, and (as Stuffed said) look for the Input value on your connection properties. Point the Input to a cell (A1). Define the Output section (highlight the “row”) as a range of cells that will hold that data coming back. (range b2:e10)
  6. Create a Button component
  7. In the button properties, check off your QaaWS connection so that it fires when the button is clicked.
  8. Create a component to model the data coming to the range (b2:e10). A spreadsheet component is very good for testing. You will never ever see dynamic data (qaaws or live office, etc) in your excel book. you have to test it in preview.
  9. Preview/publish the SWF and test.

Hi,
I have created the QaaWS with prompt and the problem I have is,
in the “Data Manager\Input Values”

I get 3 options,
1.login
2.password
3.Enter values (which is the prompt)

Now where do I configure the “Enter Values”

So what I am looking for is, for example, if I clicked on “Preview” I will be able to
select of the prompts…from the “Combo Box”…please can you advise…

Do the following:-

  • On the canvas, highlight the combo
  • Insertion Type -> Label
  • Now tag the Destination location to somewhere in the excel (define the cell reference)
  • Highlight this cell with some color
  • This colored cell become your “3.Enter values (which is the prompt)”

Hi thanks for your help much appreciated, the combo box has a drop down option
but the values there are all default (Label 1, Label 2 ect) how do I get the prompts in
the combo box…?
