QaaWS and SAP BW Authentication

I am trying to find out if it is possible to access QaaWS using my SAP BW username and password.

I have installed the SAP BOE Integration kit and can authenticate using my SAP BW credentials in Universe Designer and Web Intelligence.

When I build a Universe I use my SAP BW username and password to create the Universe and then afterwards change my authentication method to ‘Single Sign on’ otherwise anyone will be able to access BW using my credentials.

I find that if I am set to Single Sign On (SSO) I am unable to modify queries in QaaWS as of course I am using my Business Objects administrator username and password to log into QaaWS and thus access the query and I suppose these credentials are being used to authenticate against the BW system causing an error.

This is a nuisance as every time I want to amend a query I have to log into Universe Designer and hardcode my username and password before I can proceed with amending the query in QaaWS and then once I have completed the modification I have to change the Universe settings back to SSO mode. Also this can lead to security issues if I forget to change it back to SSO.

Why are you logging in to QaaWS with the Administrator account. You can use your own. Then I would assume the SSO would work to the cube when editing the web service.

Greg, I did not have the option in QaaWS to authenticate using my SAP credentials. I now have a newer version of the software and hey presto, this feature seems to be available now. I asked Business Objects around the same time I posted this article if it was possible to authenticate using SAP credentials and at the time they advised that this was not possible.
