publish dashboard (BEx) to BI launchpad

Hi experts,

My dashboard based on an BEx-Query and is published to SAP BW. Is there a way to publish this dashboard to the BI Launchpad with the same connection -> Prompts und reading data from BW?

Not yet, as the Dashboard/Xcelsius is using JAVA BICS to connect to SAP BEx queries, therefore it must be published to SAP NetWeaver platform.
You could publish the hyperlink pointing to your dashboard/Xcelsius in your SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Portal (EP) to InfoView of course, but that’s about it.

for my understanding… so without the use of the SAP Portal there is noch way to create a link form BI-Launchpad to the published dashboard in BW?

The Dashboard/Xclesius *.swf must at this time live in the SAP NetWeaver EP. Of course one can link to content in the SAP NetWeaver EP via an URL, but the dashboard must “live” there", meaning: being published to SAP NetWeaver.

You could of course access SAP BEx queries in an indirect way, via an OLAP universe (then Webi via LiveOffice or QaaWS), or via LiveOffice and Crystal Reports. You could then publish the dashboard to InfoView. But this way the dashboard would not use the direct connectivity to SAP BW.

Thanks Andreas!

so I published a dashboard (based on a BEx Query) to to my Netweaver BW. works fine.
Now i have created an hyperlink in my BI-Launchpad to the dashboard. what happend: the Hyperlink within the Bi-Launchpad restarts the Url every second so the dashboard could not be loaded.
when i try the url in the browser (ie) everything works fine.

so whats the problem with creating a new url within the bi-launchpad?
the url looks like

http://xxxx:xxx/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/pcd!3aportal_content!2fcom.sap.pct!2fplatform_add_ons!2fcom.sap.ip.bi!2fiViews!2fcom.sap.ip.bi.bex?DASHBOARD=TEST

I tried this too and get the same result, which is endless loading of the dashboard. My acquaintance told me that he used similar methods too and it supposedly works, though I can’t reproduce his result.

Anyone can follow up on this one?

I have used a workaround to use the hyperlink to connect to Bex Queries, Crystal And Dashboards.

Create an html file with a javascript window.open pointing to the URL and save it to a BOBJ Tomcat webapps folder

Apologies as I know that this is a very old post however it was the closest I’ve come to finding a workaround to issues linking directly to BEx Queries from BO Launchpad.

Could you please provide a little more details regarding this workaround.

  1. What syntax is your hyperlink.
  2. Is the html file directly in the webapps folder or in a subfolder.
