Public synonyms in SQL Server 2005 - not visible in BOE BVM

I’ve done a fair amount of searching on this and all the hits I get are Oracle related. I have a ticket open with SAP but so far, no resolution. Does anybody here have a SQL Server 2005 database with public synonyms that they are able to report off of using Business Views? I can’t get BOE XI R2 to see them, even thought I have specified “public synonyms” in the options for the data connection. I’ve also searched the SAP notes and can’t find anything there. The permissions appear to be set correctly in SQL Server, and outside of BOE, we can query them just fine. I just can’t get BOE to see them.

Thanks in advance

Just as an update, SAP is still working with me on this. We’ve tried a couple of different ODBC drivers, including the Native SQL 2005 client from Microsoft and still no luck. Interestingly, within Crystal, if I make a direct connection - I can create a command object referencing any of the synonyms & data pulls just fine. I would assume Business View Manager is the same way; I haven’t tested that. Still, this is not an ideal work around. We end up having extra objects in the system and really, if we have to resort to that, we’ll go with views to replace the synonyms, not command objects.

I’ll report back if a solution is found…
