Promoting objects with Query as a Web Service Dependencies

Hi Gurus,

I have been trying to promote objects from a 4.1 SP01 Environment to a 4.2 SP04 Environment. So far, I have been able to transfer the Users, Groups, Connections and some reports over successfully. WEBI Reports that were promoted this way runs successfully when done so in the new environment. However, I am encountering an issue with Dashboards (XLF files). They seem to have a dependency with some Query as a Web Service Objects. I have already promoted the WEBI reports pertaining to these but my jobs still return a partial success.

Is doing so possible? I have tried removing the QaaWS objects, but I now encounter an error where the Folder is said to be not unique, and the Dashboard is said to need to be created in its defined root folder (See attachment). How do I resolve this? The destination is a fresh install and all non-default objects in it are promoted from one environment to another. Test Promotion is successful, but the result changes when I do the actual promotion.

EDIT:

I tried removing the QaaWS connection from the Dashboard and I managed to promote it successfully, however, I now face an issue where the Dashboard won’t load because of an error. Please See Attachments. Dash Error shows what happens when I try to run the Dashboard using the Launchpad, while Login Error is what happens when I try to log on to the platform from the Dashboard Application.

I would try to promote the QaaWS objects first and then promote the dashboards that use them.

Hi Hilfy,

I did as you suggested but I still face an issue. We made sure to have all dependencies promoted first before we promoted the dashboard, but the problem persists.

Could it be because I’m promoting from 4.1 to 4.2? I’m using the CMC on the 4.2 machine to do all promotion jobs.

EDIT:

I tried opening the QaaWS objects we have promoted to 4.2 and it seems the URL is still pointing to the old environment.

How many QaaWS objects do you have? I’m sure there’s an automated way to update them, but I’m not sure what it is. So, I would open each one after it has been migrated to 4.2 and update the location on them.
