Problems using Crystal Report as dynamic recipient provider

Hi folks,

I am using BO Edge 4.0sp10. We pretty much exclusively use Crystal Reports and nothing else (we’ve been using CR since the days of V7 so all our reports are even still going direct to DB not even using Universes).

I have a need to set up a suite of new publications where a Crystal Report will be the source document and also a dynamic recipient provider (different report for each role). Unfortunately, when I try to set it up I don’t seem to be able to set a crystal report as the dynamic recipient provider. When I select the report and click OK the screen refreshes and I am back on the selecting a report as the provider screen.

Any ideas what could be the problem? There isn’t any error generated it just does nothing!!

I tried building a universe and a webI report on the same dataset (same SQL, rules, etc) and using that as the provider and it works fine. I would rather not have to do this though as we don’t use Universes or WebI as a general rule which means a whole lot more training for me to have to do for something that is a once off requirement.

Thanks for your help!

Cheers
Daniel

Are you not seeing Crystal as an option in the dropdown box of dynamic recipient providers?

Although from memory, I seem to remember having some issues with the publication webapp in older versions of 4.x. Have you tried a different browser?

Yep, definitely seeing it in the drop down just can’t select an actual report.

Hadn’t tried a different browser yet - just tried it in Chrome (instead of IE) and got the below error. So now off to figure out how/why/where to set that for a Crystal Report.

A processing limit was reached. Error in File 5220_6356_{3C020274-6100-4531-9263-E01AD4538057}.rpt: Max processing time or Max records limit reached CRSDK00000000 [CRCAF00000042]

Woohoo!! Success!!

I changed the value for “Number of database records to read when previewing or refreshing a report” on the properties of the Crystal Reports 2011 Processing Server and the CrystalReports2011ReportApplicationServer to unlimited and all is well.

Just hope it doesn’t have unintended consequences now!!
