Did you create the report in full-client BusinessObjects, or in WebI?

If you created it in full-client Reporter, do your users have the 3-tier version, ZABO, or just WebI?

dear anita;
i created the report in full-client BusinessObjects and then i published it using the agent

Maybe something’s getting lost in translation, but I have no idea what you mean when you say you publish it “using the agent”. What agent?

Or is it possible that you’ve posted this in the wrong forum? I haven’t used XI versions – is it possible that you need this moved to the WebI XI forum? WebI Versions 1.x and 2.x correspond to BusinessObjects version 4.x and 5.x.

dear ,
i mean in puplishing ( Distribution with
Broadcast Agent) may be i have problem becaus e i translate from french to english
i use BO5.2, i created my report with full client i distributed it by Broadcast Agent, when i try to access it by infoview it work but when i try to edit it i cant

I see. You’ve got a full-client report that’s refreshed and distributed by Broadcast Agent.

If you want the users to be able to edit a full-client report, they need full-client (possibly ZABO, the 3-tier version of full-client), and need to have their WebI options set to use BusinessObjects to edit documents. If they’re only licensed for WebI, the WebI client cannot edit a full-client report.

dear anita what do mean by zabo and 3 tier version of full client :?:

ZABO == “Zero-Admin BusinessObjects” == 3-tier full-client BusinessObjects

This is a special version of full client where you don’t have to go to the user’s desktop and do an installation. Instead, the user visits the WebI server, sets options to use BusinessObjects as the query editor, tries to create/edit a query, and an installer launches and installs a mini version of full client on the user’s desktop.

Every time the user uses ZABO version of “full-client” reporter, rather than 2-tier client -to- database server, ZABO does 3-tier:
client -to- WebI server -to- database server. The WebI server has the middleware, and receives the query results back, and forwards the results to the client desktop.

A 3-tier version of full client will exist in XI r2, but it will not be ZABO – it will not handle the zero-admin installation.

thnks ,
but how can i know if i have zapo or not :roll_eyes:

That means “Thanks”?

Ask your admin. The person who paid for the product and/or installed it on the server should know.

Worst comes to worst, ask BusinessObjects whether your license key(s) include ZABO.
