Printing Reports

When printing a report in 5.0, the shading does not come out as it is displayed in the print preview mode. The printer I am using is not a color printer but I would like the gray background to print on the headings. When I did this in the older version (4.0.6.5),everything printed fine (using the same printer).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Dave

I’ve had a lot of problems with this as well. I use a blue shading for my subtotals and my headers. When I was using a black font for the subtotals when my end users printed them out they would only see all black since it wasn’t shading correctly. I had to go through some 50 reports and make the font white so that they could at least see the subtotals… :\

Arun,

Open the report that is having the problem and click on VIEW then PAGE LAYOUT. If any of the cells are outside of the margins. It will print blank pages. Either make the margins bigger or pull the cell back within the margins lines.

When I print a report, the column headers do not print as they appear on the screen. I shade the headers so they can be easily distiguished from the data but they all print out with a white background. When I did this in version 4.0.6.5 they printed correctly, however, since we have upgraded to version 5.0, they all print with a white background. (I am using the same printer.) Can anyone give a suggestion as to how I may correct this?

Thanks,
Dave

Sounds like either a setting in - or an incompatibility with - your printer driver. You might try getting into the printer’s properties panel to see if there are any options that look like it would affect this. If not, check with your printer’s manufacturer to see if they have a more recent (or just a different for that matter) version of the driver available.

If that doesn’t work, try other applications, such as Word or Excel, to see if they have similar results. If they do, that would be an indication to check with your printer manufacturer’s support group to see if they have any sugestions. If they don’t, it’s BO support’s problem.

Hope that helps,

Paul

Make sure that you are using postscript drivers for your printer. This problem caused me endless problems with v4.1.5 - We were getting pages full of black toner at that time. If this doesn’t work then attempt changing the background colour of cells to clear.
