Populating Encylopedia details

Hi:

I was wondering if someone has explored Encyclopedia a little bit. Is there any other way of populating the details and definitions related to each report other than going to each report individually and copy-pastying all the details.

Any information related to this would be appreciated

Regards.

IMHO, Encyclopedia was being thrown into XI in a big hurry, and then BOBJ has never given a whole lot of thoughts on how to make it easier to maintain. As of the current release, there is no import or export capability on Encyclopedia. It is not changed in r2 either.

I am thinking maybe I can write some codes to automate the process. But I simply do not have any time whatsoever to look into it at this time or in the next few months.

We have not found a way to automate the entries either. We have, however, found a number of issues with encyclopedia. We had developers making copies of reports with encyclopedia entries, if those copies were deleted, the entry from the original report was deleted as well.

We have that and several other cases open with tech support currently.

Hmm, I am interested to know how did you make copies of the reports. These are WebI reports we are talking about. They are stored in the FRS with a pointer on the system database. Did you just copy the .wid files in FRS?

I think the Encyclopedia data are also pointing to the system database with the same record id as the WebI report for linking purpose. If that is true, it is entirely possible the deletion of the report copies got cascaded to the Encyclopedia data.
