pointing universe to production/testing

how do we point universe in devlopment to production.can anyone tell me stepwise as i am new to BO.

First things first, if you are new and unsure about things, back up the universes before you do anything.

Then you need to change the connection of the universe to ensure it is pointing to your production database. This is done as follows:

  1. Select FILE > PARAMETERS
  2. Select the relevant production connection from the CONNECTION dropdown
  3. Click on OK
  4. Save the universe

Now for the export:

  1. Select FILE > EXPORT
  2. Select the relevant export domain from the DOMAIN dropdown (by default, the production domain is usually called UNIVERSE)
  3. Select the group(s) you wish to export to and click on OK

jac’s suggestion works if your development and production universe domains are part of the same security domain / repository.

You didn’t provide information about your repository setup. Do you have a single repository, with development and production universe domains both in that repository?

Or do you have separate repositories / security domains / BOMain.keys?

If so, this entry from our Reporter FAQ has steps to follow to migrate universes and reports if you have totally separate repositories.
