Permissions for Others to Edit Web Intelligence Report

Hello Everyone!

Here is the scenario, I send my Web Intelligence report to another person using the SEND TO feature and adding a hyperlink. The other person receives the email, clicks on the hyperlink and launches the Web Intelligence report. The problem I have now is that they can only VIEW the report.

I need them to be able to Edit the report… add objects, delete objects…etc…so the EDIT QUERY button is not present.

I have been playing around with the permissions and I’m stuck…
:hb: PLEASE help!!!

They should first try to save the report in their Favorites and then open the report from Favorites…that should let them edit it (unless you have restricted thier rights at an application level)

Thanks,

In my humble opinion, a better way to handle this is to create a departmental folder for this user and the peers. Set up appropriate rights for the users in that department to edit reports in this folder. Then place your report in it.

I don’t like to mess with Inbox and Favorites because it can be a maintenance nightmare.

Thanks for the idea about folder management. Unfortunately with our new deployment we do not have our structure in place just yet as it is still in the planning stages, so for now I need to get the permissions working to edit a WebI report that is emailed to someone.

I tried the ā€œsaving featureā€ but when the end user clicks on ā€œDocumentā€, the only option they have is CLOSE.

I keep playing around with permissions but am unable to hammer it down. Will someone please give me the permissions path so I can make the ā€œSave Asā€ feature available for them?

And THANK YOU both so much for your assistance, I am still a newbie at BOE.

Hi Shooga

Did you find out the answer?

I have been given access to Infoview online and my boss can access an ā€˜EDIT’ button in the top left when opening a document in Personal Documents but it is not there for me. A permissions issue I guess.

Did you find out what permission needs changed on the account to allows web users to edit existing reports and create new ones?

Hi

Did you manage to find any screenshots on how to do this? I am actually not sure whether I even have WEBI or just INFOVIEW to be honest!

Thanks
