I am working on a overlaying chart where a column chart is overlaying on a stacked area chart. It is giving me the effect I want except at the horizontal axis. For the stacked area chart, the horizontal axis labels start at a different position than the column start. I tried to make the column chart horizontal labels in white but it gives a smudged look to the horz. axis of stacked chart.
I have attached word file for you reference. How can i fix this? Is there a way that i can change the spacing of horizontal axis.
Looks like you’d have to add a “0th” series to the area chart, with a zero value, then I suppose just manually align the two sets of labels.
In my trial, the column chart ended up being wider than the area chart. Of course, this assumes relatively static horizontal axis labels. I foresee this getting nasty if the data gets dynamic.
Looks like you’d also have to only use the title from the area chart, and further squeeze the column chart to make everything scale correctly.
Best thing might be to make do with a Combination Chart? That would eliminate the issues. You’d lose the area shading, though.
