oracle "ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel :-

rror with BO

Hi:

We are running Oracle 7.3 on HP-Unix.
I am running a BO report in 5.0 and for some parameter values it runs fine, but for a particular parameter value I always get the following SQL/Oracle error: “ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel :-3113”.

Can anyone help me out?

Thank you,

Andreas

hann el :-3113" error with BO and In SQL Plus/Oracle MIME-Version: 1.0

there are a lot of reasons for this error, eg, its a catchall error in oracle…

you might try pinging your station, shutting it down, seeing if you can still ping it (eg, duplicate IP address somewhere)… you could look into an upgrade to your SQL*net driver…

if it’s a server side problem, you’ll see something in the alert log… if you cant see that, have the DBA check…

good luck!

  • call oracle if you have support, this can be tough to fix…

chann el :-3113" error with BO and In SQL Plus/Oracle

Hi all:

I ran the underlying SQL directly in oracle using SQL Plus. For a certain parameter value (Organization Unit = 3000) I get the same error.

Help

Thank you,

Andreas

the problem is that your SQL*net packets are getting corrupted… it can happen because of the size of the result set, it can happen because of memory locations (eg, your driver is not linking correctly to your network layer), it can happen because of network traffic…

i would start with your driver(s) - get the latest SQL*net supported for your version of oracle, then consider your network driver… also, there are registry settings you can change to keep your network card ‘listening’ longer, but you will have to get that from M’soft…

good luck,

Hi:

Pinging works fine. This is the main accounting server HP Unix. Why would it work fine for some parameters and for some not?
