Opening Against new universe

I am using version 4.1 of BusinessObjects. I have a user TEST who created a report against universe A in repository A. I modified that universe, (no object definitions have been changed) and saved it with a name B. I created a new repository B. I exported the modified universe B to the new repository B. The new repository has the same user account with the same privileges as before. I gave the user access to universe B.

I have the new bomain.key in my LOCDATA folder. When I open the report, and try and point it to the new universe B by going to the Data Cube and clicking on the button that allows me to change to another universe that a given user has access to, I get the following error -

" Cannot find universe A"

However, once I use my General Supervisor account to open the report , point it to universe B and save it, my TEST user account and run the report fine.

Has anybody encountered this before?

Does it have anything to do with what account created the report?

WHY do you need a new bomain.key??? This is needed for the security domain only, NOT for universe domains. The connections to universe domains are stored in the security domain, therefore it should work with the same bomain.key.

Try the following:

  1. create your new universe repository B from supervisor (on any database) 2. Export the modified universe (B) into that repository. 3. Open the existing report (which uses universe A) as user ‘test’, refresh it (this will also re-import the universe “A” definitions from the repository A into your file system, subfolder “BusinessObjects\universe\A”) 4. Change the connection from universe A topoint to universe B from the “data-manager” (should work now)
  2. Re-run the report with universe B definitions.

Hope this helps…
