OLAP Connection Creation Problem in SAP BOBI 4.0

Hi Experts,

We are newly installing SAP BOBI4.0 in our server. We finished the installation, certification from BO server to BW Server, Roles impoting successfully but we are not able to create OLAP connection in CMC.

Can you please suggest me is there anything to do for it in SAP BOBI 4.0

So what is the exact problem? Are you trying to create the OLAP connection via CMC? Have you configured the keytab file (CMC | Authentication| SAP | Options)? What is the exact error message including workflow?

And are you on the latest SP and Patchlevel for SAP BI 4.0 (SP2 patch 06)?

Hi Andreas,

cheers for the response.

We had successfully completed configuration part in ā€˜Authintication’ and we imported the roles as well. Keystores has been successfully imported from BW servers.

Nevertheless, while trying to create OLAP connections through CMC, we are facing some issues … like the moment we enter all the required details of my BW server and when we click on ā€˜Connect’ button, system is not accepting the login credentials. Please find the same (as a snap-shot) in the attached doc.

When we logged in BI lauunch pad using SSO, and when tried to create a new report based on BEx right away, we are getting the below issue :

com.sap.sl.sdk.repository.service.RepositoryServiceImpl$RepositoryBrowsingFailedException:
[[error.repositoryBrowsingFailed] 0]
,<java.io.IOException: Unexpected end of stream>

Could you please suggest on how to proceed further? Do we need to have any pre-requisites before creating OLAP connections.

We installed BOXI R4.0 SP2. Is Patch 6 should also be installed.

Try creating the OLAP connection using the Information Design Tool (IDT). I was not able to use the CMC to create the OLAP connections for BICS, but they worked just fine in the IDT.

It seems to be some security issue. We are also getting this error after migration of SAP roles.
But before SAP role migration, creation of reports from Bex connection was possible. We are also searching root cause of this issue :frowning:

I ran into this issue as well. It was security related since a user in the administrator group could access the BEX query connections but a custom group was not able to access them.

To fix the issue I went to ā€œOLAP Connectionsā€ and gave rights to the group in the parent folder of the OLAP Connection. Giving rights merely to the connection itself was not sufficient for a user to browse and find the connection in Webi.

Is it mandatory that we need to set up SAP authentication to connect to SAP BW using BICS connection through CMC or IDT.

Is it not enough if we just get the read only login information for the SAP BW instance. I am a newbie to BW and would really appreciate your response.

Thanks
Chandra

I know this post seems to be 6 months old, but I am facing similar problem.

We are using BO 4.0 Patch 14, I have setup SSO OLAP connection between BO and BI production system. While accessing BEX queries in WEBI, I am getting following exception error

ā€˜SSO token or User password is empty error message’

I did gave full control authorization to OLAP connection but error still stays. Could you please share your thoughts if someone by passed this issue.

Thanks,
Kris

have you used keytab/PKCS#12 to setup SSO between SAP BI BusObjects and SAP BW (it all comes down to certificates)?

Hello Andreas, I was in training last couple of days and didn’t get a chance to see your response.

Thanks for your response, can you expand what keytab/PKCS#12 means? Presently we are using pre defined USer-ID and password to access BO and BW.

Thanks,
Kris

Have you configured your system for SSO? Here’s a good article

Let me know if you have any questions.
