ODBC for VMS, RMS files, particularly CODA

Dear All,

We are looking for the best way to make our VMS data visible to BusinessObjects and are currently investigating various ODBC options.

All the files are RMS files as is usual on VMS, but we are particularly interested in the files that are used by our CODA IAS financial system.

I would appreciate hearing from anyone with experience either with connecting to VMS RMS files, or connecting to CODA.

best regards,

Following a similar hunt I found Connx software.

I have had a demonstration from Anthony lightfoot from Generix ltd in the UK and it worked well.

We use Connx for ODBC VAX data extract. I have talked to the developer who supports CODA for us and these are his views. We do not access the RMS files that CODA uses. We load all data to CODA using the IAS link via COBOL programs. We looked at extracting information but found most of the files had the data encrypted. The IAS link proved too slow so as it was a one-off extract reports that output pure text were written and these reports were used for a one-off load.
Probably not much use but the best I can do…
