ODBC for Dummies

Thank you for your response. I do need step by step instruction. Do you know of any sources?

Some points to note for ODBC connections:

The ODBC connection (aka System DSN) will also need to be created on every pc that needs to use a Universe with this connection.

Make sure all users can “see” the access database, and that security allows write access to the directory. ( Access needs to create a lock file ( .ldb , and it cant do this without writing to the directory. )

If more than one user uses the P.C., and they may have individual drive mappings, then you should type in the UNC mapping when selecting the database. e.g \Myserver\myfolder\mydatabase.mdb

It is a good idea to tick “Read only” from the Advanced button in ODBC connection dialog. Unless this is ticked, if there is a problem with the Access database, admin staff will be unable to repair the database until every Business Objects user logs out.

Thanks so much for your advance. Do you know where I can get documentation of how to connect BO with Access?
