ODBC Error

hi,

i’m using deski xi and i’ve been sent a report from one of my colleagues as they were having issues with it. The report pulls from a stand alone universe which i have saved into the folder where the rest of my universes live, but i can’t figure out how to get deski to recognise the .unv file as a universe that i can use.

can anyone help? i’m sure it will be something really simple, but so am i at times.

Note: I have also tried using the Data Manager/Definitions tab in an attempt to force it to look at the correct universe, but still get the same error, with no option to select another universe.

I’ve now managed to get the report to link to the universe, but now i’m getting a Connection SQL sentence error:(DA0005) with the following detail:

Exception: DBD, [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specifiedState: IM002

Any ideas about how i can fix this so that the report actually runs?

Hi

Its looks like you dont have the ODBC for the universe, try to create the ODBC and use this for creating the connection in universe. Hope your DB is not oracle…

do you have a matching DSN entry on your PC? create one and you will be fine else you have to change the universe connection to the DSN as defined on your PC.
