Object Shortcut - how to delete

I have a report that’s located in its original folder. I created a shortcut to that object in another folder. The shortcut quit working. No error message it just does nothing when you double click on it. Security is fine. I would like to delete the shortcut and recreate it. But I can’t find anything about deleting/removing a shortcut. If I right click on the “Shortcut” of the report I see “Delete” as an option. But I don’t want to take a chance that I might actually delete the original report in the original folder (it’s not my report, I just administer the system), so thought I’d ask you guys first…

How do you delete an object shortcut?

Here’s the current setup:
Original report located at: Public Folders => Academic History => Student Profile (deski report)

Shortcut located at: Public Folders => Guidance => Student Profile (shortcut)

Thanks for your help!

I’m sure Right Click / Delete would be fine, but if you are unsure, why not use the import wizard to take a back up of the report?

Deleting shortcuts does not delete the report. A shortcut is an object of it’s own.

If the shortcut doesn’t work, it’s likely that the report is gone anyway. It may have been replaced with a “new” one with the same name.

I agree, the report writer probably did something with the report and that’s why the shortcut isn’t working.

It makes sense that the shortcut is an object all it’s own. I’ll let the report writer know so he can make a copy of the report just in case. Then I guess I’ll be brave and delete it. Thanks!

It worked. You can just delete the shortcut since it’s an object. It did NOT affect the original report. I then created a new shortcut and everything works now. I appreciate the help!
