Not Using Repository

Tarak,

Thanks for your message. My problem is that I want this universe to have no
connection to a repository at all. I just want it to stand alone. The
universe was originally in an oracle repository, but removed several months
ago. I copied the missing dll to the pc and got past the missing dll error.
Then I got a ‘Cannot Reach Repository Database’ message. This is correct -
there is no repository database. So I then renamed the bomain.key to avoid
this message. That worked, but now I receive a message ‘you are not
authorized to use this universe’. Where is this one coming from?

Any more help is greatly appreciated.

Marian:

What you should do is open the universe as General Supervisor. That login is
not validated against the repository (which you no longer have) and so should
be able to open the universe and update the connection. You will need to set
up a “personal” or “shared” connection instead of a “secured” connection if
you are not going to have a repository.

Once you have done this, do a “Save As…” on the universe. You will want to
use the “Save for all users” option as well. This removes the “security bit”
that was set the first time you exported the universe from the repository. As
has been discussed before, simply removing the universe from the repository
tables does not update your local copy; it still thinks that it has been
exported.

Logging in as General Supervisor should allow you to fix these problems.

After changing the bomain.key, where it is pointing to now.
Because this message can come, if obj_m_actor table where
BO keeps user account information is missing or your user account
is not there. Most likely it is due the 1st reason.

you may check by
select * from obj_m_actor where
m_actor_c_name= ‘< Your User Name>’

Thanks
Tarak
