I was hoping if you could share some of your experiences with BO XI.
My company is about to implement BO XI (not sure exactly which version thiugh), we have been using until now extensively BO 5.0 (8000-9000 users globally)… However, my first impressions of BOXI are not too positive… It seems to be slow to work with, and there is NO “Slice & Dice” functionality anymore (at least in the user-friendly way it was in 5.0)… Now in order to do the same thing, you need to spend 3 times more time. Furthermore, you can not upload Excel/txt. files into BO, etc…
To wrap it up, it looks fancy, but there is almost no new functionalities compared vs. 5.0, and furthermore I already see performance issues.
Any opinions/experiences are highly appreciated.
Furthermore, does anybody know where I can find a good (super)user manuals for BO XI… We did receive some training, but I would like to get better acquainted with it.
Thanks for the quick reply… I was refering to the BOXI WebI version. For the 5.0 we used also WeBI but could keep the reports on our desktops… Now all the reports will be located on central server, and we also gonna have the user/viewer and superuser/editor access.
We use 6.5 and XI. And i must say i was in the same mind set as you when we first had WebI (Not yet had the Pleasure of using DeskI yet, but collegues have).
However, for me and other users in my department feel that it is more poweful, functionally wise, than the older versions. It just does it in a different way.
I still believe that WebI does require more functionallity to be equal par to the Desktop version though.
For me on the WebI it doesnt seem like there are Proformance issues, other than occationally the time it takes your browser to relise you have moved the table an inch to the right, but its still, for me, calculates formulas and retrieves data in the same amount of time.

Mostly for the users who have extensively worked on BO 5.x/6.x are not getting impressed with BO XI. But as you will explore more you will get to know more about it which suits your requirements. Major point to consider is nowadays all reporting moving to Web based and that might be issue as Full client has many features while all that features not there in WebI
Slowly and gradually you will get more insight and also features. as XI r2is not completely complementing BO5.x/6.x but now 3.0/3.1 is moving towards that with new changes…
