Not able to create Universe connection to oracle

I have Windows7 with 64 bit architecture and i have installed oracle client 10g and am able to connect to the Oracle server from SQL plus and able to create an ODBC connection successfully. But when i try to create a connection from BO XIR 3.0 universe to Oralce 10g native client, i am getting the error “DBD: ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified”
Even though i am giving the correct credentials. Please help me out

What is your server architecture, is that also 64bit?

You can’t mix 32bit on the serve and 64bit on the PC

BO is a 32bit application so you will need to use 32bit ODBC connection, not 64bit.

I know that on Server 2008 they gave a facility to have both, not sure if that is also available on Win7

Hi, the server is 32 bit architecture.
I am connecting to oracle using Oracle Client, so there is no conecept of ODBC 32/64 driver. While connecting to sql server i am using 32bit ODBC connection only. Please correct if i am worng.

You will then need to make sure that you are using a 32bit ODBC connection on your Win 7 machine as your trying to communicate from a 64 bit to 32 bit machine.

Hi for oracle , i need to use Oracle native client not ODBC. So how can choose ODBC32/64

Have you searched the Oracle forums on this as this really is an Oracle issue not a Business Objects one. Business Objects just happens to be the software that you want to use in this situation.

You need to use the 32 bit version of Oracle, with its associated 32 bit libraries, to connect a 64 bit OS client to a 32 bit Oracle database.
