BusinessObjects Board

No More memory available to add rows to an internal table.

Hi

We are facing JCO_ERROR_SYSTEM_FAILURE error on the SAP Dashboards 4.1 sp 5. The screenshot is attached for reference.
We have upgraded the BW from 7.3 to 7.4 and Database from oracle to HANA.
The dashboard consists of 10 BICS Queries and 2 QWAAS queries.
It used to run fine before the upgrade. This error is coming immediately after the upgrade.
Our Analysis so far:

  1. The dashboard sometimes runs fine for the first refresh like June 2016 but give error for the second time like Jan 2016 coz Jan has more data than June.
  2. We have applied number of permutations and combinations to detect the problematic query in the dashboard by adding and deleting but not able to find. The dashboard was chopped till 4 queries then it didnt give the error.
  3. We checked the dump on BW side. It gives memory error. The dashboard consumes the extended memory and then start using the heap memory and when it reaches 100% then the dashboard throws this error.
  4. The HANA box is of 1TB , Heap memory is of 8 GB but still the dashboard gives error.
  5. All the queries in rsrt runs fine in BW and gives no error.
  6. The memory parameters are all checked from basis side as well.
  7. When BO server is connected to non-migrated BW then it does not give any error.
  8. The Web Intelligence report built using the same result set of dashboard runs fine and gives no error.

Please suggest a way forward as it is very critical now.
Let me know if any other information is required.
Thanks!!

First of all, I do hope that you’ve submitted an SAP ticket. This is exactly the sort of thing they are actually good for.

If you remove the 2 QaaWS queries, do you still get the error? Given the mixed nature of the data, I’d like to narrow down whether BICS and QaaWS are acting differently.

Which system is actually running out of memory? Database server, BO server, local machine? From your description, it looks like the BO Server, but I’m not sure.
