Nightmare working on a NAT with different VLAN

Hi Guys,

I am trying to work  in BO deployment where client needs to pass through a firewall to reach the servers (enterprise). Following all required guidelines describe in admin guide I have setup all required servers to use a fixed port and I have requested to open the ports in the firewall. Additionally I have setup the host identifier to hostname (es-w08-bovent1) and I have added an entry in my host file to solve this name. Fortunately it works OK and I am able to reach BOE servers by using client soft (designer, reich webi) using es-w08-boent1 as a system name , but mi question is a bit more tricky.

Could we possible to modify the name of the system, for instance replacing “es-w08-bobent1” by “bob-dev” without having to rename servers. Question arise from the facts that we are working with environments (DEV & PRO) on two isolated VLAN where machine has same name and I doesn’t know how to be able to connect with 2 boe servers that have the same name.

Thanks a lot

If I follow what you’re saying, yes - you can rename the cluster from the SIA setup routine on the server. Then, just hit your web.config files (IIS) or web.xml files (Tomcat) to change your CMS entry.

BO defaults to the server name during setup, but you don’t have to stick with that - BOPROD and BODEV are favs… Hope that’s what you want, it’s fairly easy, if so…

Good luck!
