New User Error Message with XI R2 (SP6)

Howdy. Hopefully someoine here can shed some light on why this is happening.

Basically, I’m trying to create a new user (Windows NT auth.) and I get this error message:

There was an error while writing data back to the server: NT Authentication failed to get the NT groups for the account with ID “MYDOMAIN\USER1”. Please make sure this account is valid and belongs to an accessible domain

Now, let me narrow the scope a bit:

  1. We only have one domain and both the server and the user is on it

  2. Some user accounts can be added just fine; only a select few (about a dozen) garner this error message

  3. We created a new test account, added a user to a group and was able to addit successfully.

  4. This is a newly created server/install. On the old XI server, the user ID can be added with zero problems.

For some reason, the CMC throws an error for those select few users. And from everything that I can tell, those user accounts are just like the others.

A solution is to delete and recreate the users, but obviously I don’t want to do that.

If anyone can shed some light, I’d appreciate it.

Hi tkm,

Welcome to B  B!!

I had seen this issue (not particular to SP6, but in general) in which some users/groups just throws error when mapping in CMC.

The solution in my case was to recreate the group and map it again.

I would suggest you to trace the CMS logs and look for the details when you try to map the group and get the error. You will find some difference between the group which gets mapped correctly and group with error.

Moreover, once I found that its because of 1 user and when I removed that user, the mapping in CMC was successful. So it might be because of corrupt user.
