…but I think we will need a separate NEW forum for -

Crystal Reports for Enterprise 4.0

As it is a totally separate product-line (with different features) for a while.

From what I’ve seen so far, Yes it is differently desgined etc. but the end results or what you can produce with it is the same for CR 2011 as it is for 4.0 version. Dave, I think you can confirm that with your friend Brian Durning who happens to be the Crystal chair person. :slight_smile:

Agreed, CRFE4 is only able to access data through the new Common Semantic Layer (CSL) not direct to data.

They will be very different products until CR-2012 is supposed to bring them back into a single-tool.

We also might want to have a special forum for people lamenting the death of the full client Crystal reports tool just as they do for DeskI as there will be many tears shed over this change I suspect.

From the ROADMAP, it still sounded like CR-2012 (next generation) was going to be FULL-CLIENT but include the CRFE4 connections to the CSL.

We’ll see what happens…
