Hi Guys,

Here is issue, we are using Webi and Crystal Report, my question which is better in performance wise. what kind of reports we use Crystal and What kind of reports we use Webi?..If reports has huge data which is better to use Webi or Crystal and why?..please any hint is appreciated

Hi Vijay,
I worked on Crystal for one project , as far as my knoweldge Crystal Reports have a power ful crystal engine, so huge amount of data can be handled by them and the O/P is faster.
Where as Webi is on the Browser which can handle light weight reports efficiently.
But It all depends on the amount of data you are talking about.Im sorry if Im wrong…

madhu…you said is better to use crystal for huge data, how crystal do better performance than Webi (in Large data). If we do in crystal, is user will get same satisfaction as Webi. If we use all drill down option with detail report in crystal ( is still give better performace).

Hi Vijay,

If your looking to build ‘corporate’ reports then Crystal should be fine :slight_smile: .
Corporate reports are typically executed by users and printed or saved off as Excel for example.
If your looking to build (far more interactive) reports that users can edit (add/delete columns, sort, sub-total, section, etc…) then WebIntelligence will be the way to go :+1: .
Of course there is impact on the application server too, for example each WebIntelligence report processed about takes about what 50 Crystal reports require.

so, your saying is better to have crystal for huge amount of data than Webi. If so then why Webi is more popular than Crystal. Guys please help me in that, i want clear view on this situation. considering performance as primary, Webi give better performance in what kind of report and crystal give better performance in what kind of report?
