MYSQL upgrade for XI 3.1 FP1.5 server installation??

We are using the default MYSQL database installed with business objects XI 3.1 which is MYSQL version 5.0.34.

We are looking at upgrading to version 5.0.90 due to security risk in our current version.

Has anyone done this before?
The sap site only has guides for updating sql server but nothing about mysql that I could find.

Is it as simple as running an update executable file or is there more to it?

Thanks for any input/advice as I am not a database person.

How did it go ? I’m about to perform the same upgrade.
Which MySQL version did you finally use ? I’m concern anything after 5.0.
