What kind of information are you looking for?

Thanks for your promptness. We are migrating our ms office. As part of it want to know:
1-are there any features which may get impacted in live office
2-any performance issues
3-any resource which may help overcome the issues.
I have read that live office is compatible with office 2007. But thought a better idea to get the expert advise here.
Thanks in advance and waiting the response.
Sri.

As I read somewhere that you cannot really save Excel docs with version 2007 but in 2003.

OK …The main you need to be concerned about is the proper architecture i.e BusinessObjects Live Office XI 3.1 SP2 architecture, uses the reliability of BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 SP2. So what you have to is determine which BO version you will be working on, XIR2 or 3.x then as long as the LO version is compatible. It isnt very significant difference weather you use MS office 2003 or 2007.
As far as the saving to excel goes? you can save webi excel documents as .xls files INSIDE excel 2007 and convert them. So, I don’t see any issues steming from that.
Also, you can almost google any version of LO complete user guide for a complete general refrence.

Thank You. We are going to use BOXI 3.1 & Office 2007. I need to prepare some guidelines on what would be the impact if any on the live office features. We currently have BOXIR2 & Office 2003.
According to you, there is no impact and everything should work as is. I am looking for any specific bullet point which will not work and need to be listed as technical limitations so users wont presume anything.
Thank You,
Sri.

How about Office 2010? Anyone have one of the 3.x versions of Live Office working with Office 2010? I’m trying to find a supported platforms document but have not been able to yet.
clarence (BOB member since 2005-11-18)
The supported platforms paper I have says that Microsoft OFfice 2007 SP 1 is the most recent support Office.
This document is for BOXI 3.1, it’s possible in one of the SP they added support for Office 2010, but I doubt it.

I have heard Office 2010 support (Xclesius and LO) is being planned for SP4

I have just been told that Business Objects Live Office XI 3.1 FP 3.4 is supported for Office 2010. There is a “patch install” and a “full install” so you will want to get the full install in oder to install it on a machine with Office 2010. I’m downloading and getting ready to start testing.

Hi,
We are migrating to XI3.1 SP3 and at the same time I wanted to introduce Live Office.
I have a couple of questions regarding your remark
Sorry about all the questions, but we have an Open Volume contract for Office 2010 and we just migrated everyone to Office 2010 (no way to downgrade since we need the new Unified Communications suite).
It would be nice to get this working
Thanks for any help you can give me.
Regards,
Andy

It is available on the SAP SMP site. https://service.sap.com
If you have clients with Crystal Reports, Business Objects Client Tools, and Live Office, then you will have to upgrade each of them to FP 3.4 due to inter-dependencies. Crystal Reports and the Business Objects Client Tools require a Fix Pack that is just the FP3.4 patch. Live Office will require a complete slipstreamed build of Live Office including the patch. It is a good idea to bring the server up to the same FP level as the client.
Not enough. I have no Prod systems at this level. I can verify that I was able to get Live Office XI 3.1 FP3.4 to install on a machine with Office 2010 x86. I was also able to use Live Office to run queries. I’m not a big fan of FP’s and try to avoid them and just stick to major SP’s. In this case being able to use Office 2010 with Live Office was enough to get us to look into FP3.4. We are still testing and waiting to see how things work out. So far no issues though.

Clarence,
I am glad to read that you managed to install Live Office with Office 2010, even if it is by using a FP
We use BO as kind of an add-on to our ERP system, so our ERP supplier handles the downloads and licensing. I cannot download the FP myself (I have no personal SAP account), but I asked them to do this for me and will test it as soon as they send it to me.
As for client setups, there is no problem. Everyone uses the Infoview web client, only I am using client tools (Designer, CR, etc).
Thanks a lot for all this info, you are a life-saver
Best regards,
Andy

Clarence,
I’m afraid I will have to bother you again with this…
I managed to obtain FP 3.4, but it seems to be an update package, not a full install. And since I can’t succeed in installing the full version first I am a bit stuck…
Could you please explain to me how you managed to install the FP? Did you maybe install the full package on an older Office version first and upgrade to Office 2010 later?
Thanks a lot.
Regards,
Andy

You need to get the full slipstreamed FP3.4 for Live Office. This means that it includes a complete build of Live Office including the updates through FP3.4. Sounds like you got just the FP3.4 patch.

Dear Clarence,
I obtained the full package, installed it and it is running perfectly with BO XI 3.1 (even without a server FP) 8)
Once in every while there is someone who makes a difference and this week you were this person.
Thanks so much for your fast and professional feedback, if I were in the US I’d buy you flowers.

Is it file: 51040421.ZIP, which is 227MB?
I don’t have a machine I can personally test as I have to have asset management download the file who issue a install order for someone else.

I’m sorry, I can’t tell. It was downloaded by our ERP partner, who delivered it to me uncompressed.
Good luck.

Hi
Our BO Server is at SP3 + FP 3.3. At the same time our IT is deploying Office 2010.
So we need to support BO tools for it.
I downloaded Xcelsius 2008 Enterprise SP4 and can safely have it installed on Win7 image to be deployed enterprise wide since xcelsius is “loosely” coupled with BO Servers.
However, I’m a bit concered about LO FP 3.4 full build as this is “direct” integration with Server which SP3 + FP 3.3 in our case. There will be a difference in Fix pack levels between client and server. Upgrading Server + all Client components to FP 3.4 is ruled out due to nature and time complexities.
Can someone please recommend if it is still OK to go ahead?
Thanks
Deep

Hi,
We have been running the FP 3.4 for a while with a lower server version and haven’t encountered any issues.
One thing to keep in mind on Win7: we had one laptop where UAC security prevented the add-in from being executed. After shutting down UAC it worked fine.
