Moving to another server

A couple of months ago I installed XI 3.1 on a test server.
The repository was created in a test database (Oracle).

Now I want to move this to a production environment.
I successfully moved the repository, using CCM.

I’m a bit insecure how to move the XI software itself.
Would it suffice to install the server software on the new server and create a link with the repository database? Or is it more complex than that?

TIA
Peter

I am not sure what you mean by successfully moved repository using CCM?
And yes, just point to the existing repository using CCM after installing the product on PROD server

A disadvantage of using software in your native language is that it is sometimes hard to figure out how certain features are called in English.

What I meant was that I had been able to migrate my CMS data source to the productiuon database.

In the mean while I installed the server software on the new server and successfully connected it to the CMS data store.
The next step would be to remove the old (test-)server from the configuration. Can anyone tell me how to do this without ruining the rest of the configuration?

Would it suffice to remove the SIA from the CCM on the old server?

thanks,
Peter

And you did this on the PROD BO server after installation?
If yes then you might be still seeing the old TEST CMS server name in the configuration tab of SIA?
To change it to PROD server name, stop the SIA, select the check box “change cluster name to” and change it manually to the PROD server name.
Press apply and restart the SIA
.

No, I transferred the data using the CCM on the old test server.

When I look at the server info in the CMC I can see the servers from both the old test server and the new prod server. I want to get rid of the test servers.

I think this should be done by stopping the SIA on the old server and remove it (the SIA I mean). Can you confirm this?

No, its on the new server from where you will delete them and using CMC
Actually it got clustered
.

Is there a way I can see it got clustered? Not that I doubt your words, I’m trying to learn something.

 One place is SIA > configuration which will show that “It belongs to the cluster servername”
And ofcourse on viewing all the PROD servers/services you will also see the TEST server/services
.

Aha, yes I see. It indeed belongs to a cluster , where is the test server name.

If I understand it correctly now I can decluster it by going tot the CMC and remove all servers that belong to the node situated on the testserver.

If I’m correct I can not remove a node as one unit? I have to remove the servers that belong to that node one by one?

Yes, first change the cluster name to PROD from CCM and then using CMC delete all those server/services one by one prefixed with TEST servername
.

After deleting all servers I seemed unable to remove the node.
This is not possible with the CMC.
Searching the web I found that the node should disappear when removing the SIA belong to that node. Unfortunately I already removed the software.

But no problem, when you add a new SIA on the production server with the same name as the one you want to remove, and then subsequently remove it, the administration gets tidied up, and the node is removed in the CMC as well.

Haider, thank you very much for your help! :+1:
