Modifying defaultconfig.xml and using Advanced editor

I want to change the basic colours of tables, free standing cells etc for new reports. I know this involves changing the defaultconfig.xml file, which I have done. However this only seems to take effect if I set the default creation/editing tool to Interactive. I want to use the Advanced (Java tool).
Has anyone got this to work ?

I am on Edge 3.1 SP3, local JRE version 1.6.0_03

This change should also work with Java based applet within Webi.

There is a default config present on each workstation that has an installed Rich Client, good info here:-

You may be able to change something server side to make sure this file is downloaded along with a new Rich Client install, but, as far as that goes, I’m unsure.

I’m not using Rich Client though, just the JRE based editor, so there is no BO install of any type on my client pc.

I’ve changed every single version of defaultconfig.xml on the server just in case I was changing the wrong one  and restarted Tomcat and the SIA. The changes appear if I use the Interactive editor, but not the Advanced (Java) editor.

Sorry, I thought you were using the Rich Client…:).

Just a thought, have you tried uninstalling the Java from your client and then re-installing via the BOXI server?
Maybe, it is using an old file that was created before you made the changes?
The interactive viewer uses the Java installed server side, so I understand why that is working…

Ah good point  , then maybe there is a copy cached on my pc.
I’ll try clearing out the cache tomorrow and see if that helps.
I’d like to avoid uninstalling locally if I can as I’d need to log a call for the help desk to do that

Thanks

Hi Margarita,

You may find just shutting down your PC, thus clearing the cache, may solve the issue…

Cheers,

Mark.

Yes spot on Mark, restarting my pc after modifying the server files clears the cache and I can now see my new formats

Thanks for your help
