Migration from 5i to XIR2

Hi All,

We are migrating from 5i to Xir2.What are the common problems that occur when mograting from 5i to XIR2?I am new to migration.

We did this a few years ago, but a few things to watch for:

  1. If you are using VBA in Deski reports (full-client) you have to leave them as Deski reports and you have to install something that uses VBA on the server. We installed MS-Excel, and you have to do that first before installing BO so the BO install will see the files.

  2. If you have a lot of FHSql reports, the conversion will create new “universes” for these so you will want to watch for that if you intend to convert them to Webi.

  3. Using a BIAR file works better than going straight from Repo to Repo when migrating anything.

  4. Security is completely different so don’t count on migrating any of that from 5i. You are better off creating new groups and permissions from scratch.

Schedulig and as said security … inherited from CR

By the way there is a useful official pdf doc explaining all the steps of that migration plus what is new like calculation engine …
