Migrating Oracle 6i Reports to Business Objects Reports?

Hi,

Can we migrate reports developped in Oracle Reports 6i to Business objects?Either in webI or DeskI?

:?: Every vendor uses different technology so it would not be possible i.e. Oracle report types of .rdf and .rep would not be recognised by the BO report engine.
The only common file types are generic i.e. Word, PDF and Excel.

You will have to either recreate the reports
or create an open portal that can have links to each respective system that hosts the native reports
or have them generate a common static file type that can be hosted in a reporting portal.

Could you please explain the statement ? I don’t understand this method.
And do we have any other tool which converts Oracle Forms6i to into its native reports?

I think Mike just means one common location to store a pre-generated static file (like an Excel sheet).

I’ve worked on Oracle reports previously - I highly doubt you’re going to find a tool for converting that. Time to make a universe and create some WebI reports! :smiley:

No vendor is going to provide a common report format or mechanism so the only alternative to not redeveloping all the reports is to generate them in a common format (PDF, Excel, HTML etc) and then to host them on a content management portal i.e. generate them in PDF and throw them into Joomla.
