Merged Dimensions Question

I’m new to WEBi and want to create a report from two universes. The data is the same in each one (Client/Sales Revenue) although different names in Universe. I know how to create the merged dimension on Client, but in order to combine the Sales Revenue do I need to create a variable that adds the two sales amounts together from each query and display that variable in the table? That way if there are similar clients in each query their amounts will be combined.

Thank you

You can manually merge dimensions within Web Intelligence, even if they don’t have the same name. The “Merge Dimensions” button is the 4th icon from the left in the “Reporting Toolbar”. Select the two dimensions you want to merge using the dialog that pops up-- you can also get a preview of the data from the same dialog.

Remember, all the rules about merging dimensions still apply-- you will need to have the same database field type, level of agreggation, etc.

hope this helps!

My question is not about merging the dimensions. I want to know how to merge (combine) the sales revenue amounts. You cannot merge these. Is my only option to create a variable to add them together or am I misunderstanding how merged dimension work? After merging dimensions I have three data elements: 1- Merged Client, 2-Sales Revenue Query 1, 3-Sales Revenue Query 2. I want my table to display client and sales revenue with the sales revenue combined from the two queries.

Thanks

Its the same measure object you are using, i.e. there is one sales revenue measure, you have in both queries, correct?

It should sum them for you, why not try it out…
