I now have Lumira installed and have been playing around with it, now considering SAP are making a big noise about this product I have been very under whelmed by it, I’m not sure if I’m missing the point of the product or not appreciating who it’s targeting. Its doesnt seem to be a Dashboard product, more of a tool you would expect to put in front of the end user who has big data sets they want to exploit and to do a bit of analysis of it, and easily be able to create graphs, drill etc without any real developer knowledge.
I have also installed Data Explorer and played with that, I’ve been told that is supposed to be the web version of Lumira, Data Explorer does seem to be a kind of cut down Lumira
If anyone is actually using Lumira in the BOB community or planning to use it, what will you be using it for and who is your target audience ?
My understanding so far is the target users seem to be the analysts (techno-functional) who can create presentations (stories) to showcase the data analysis in a visually polished format.
Its kind of redundant product when one thinks of power of WEBI and Explorer.
Its still in infancy stage and need to give more time. The explorer although very nice in my opionion lacks the pixel perfect presentation adjustment that comes with a dashboard view.
Last week I attended a one-day course in Lumira. It is positioned as a self-service BI -tool. The key is simplicity. It is supposed to be very scalable.
There is a lot of development going on for this product, so possibilities will be added constantly.
Our expert-users who attended the course were fairly enthousiastic.
