lov in repository

Hello,

does anybody know where a designer-defined list of value is kept in the repository? When I edit a lov in an universe, the OBJ_LOVID in the UNV_OBJCONTENT table is set to some key. However, I don’t find the table this key references.

Second question: is there a way to set the ‘tables’ property of an object for a set of objects? I have classes of objects that always have to join with a fact table, but I don’t want to set the tables property for each object seperately.

Thanks,

This information is stored in the document domain. The table name is OBJ_X_DOCUMENTS. This is the same table that is used to store documents that are sent via the SEND TO USER, SEND TO REPOSITORY, and SEND TO DOCUMENT AGENT SERVER commands.

It is a little misleading to think of a List of Values as a “document”, but that is in fact where the information is.

If you were looking to edit the LOV while it is stored in the repository, you are out of luck. The file is stored in “chunks” of binary data. As they say for most electrical equipment, “There are no user servicable parts inside.”

Yes, you could set the tables attributes via direct manipulation of the repository tables. Bear in mind that any direct manipulation of the repository tables voids your support agreement, so you have to decide if the time saved is worth giving up your support for.

Information on the repository tables and their layouts can be found on the BusinessObjects tech support web site at www.busobj.com, and I believe it is now distributed on the production cd-roms as well.
