Lost Joins

FYI,
I experienced joins disappearing in a universe without contexts last week. The join was between two tables one of which was an alias of the other. I had parsed the universe and everything came back ok. When I ran a query against the universe I got an error but for the life of me, I can’t remember what it said. I looked at the SQL and the from clause was built wrong.

I have since fixed the problem. In Designer, FILE…PARAMETERS…SQL I set Multiple SQL statements for each measure on. This caused one SQL statement to be built for each alias table from which objects were used in the query.

Maybe setting the parameters on for contexts will help you out. Best regards,

I have also had lost joins. It has not happened since upgrading to 4.1 but last year I had it happen several times with 4.0.5. I had to re-create all of the joins in my universe. The universe would look fine, I would export it to the repository, then re-import it and the joins would be gone.

Dear Paul

I have ‘lost’ my joins in the following way:

  • I switched on the VIEW LIST MODE option and selected a table. - I then selected the option to display the joins associated with that table - I edited the contexts, and that ‘lost’ all the joins that were selected in the context.

This has happened to me a couple of times…
