Was hoping to find a way to automate the recreation of a semantic layer to be utilized for an archived database recently created.
You can’t necessarily automate it, but you can import you existing universe into UDT, change the name in the properties and point to your new archive connection. Next, “save as” and give it the new name. Then publish to your new folder in the CMC.
Or, you can go into the CMC and copy it from the current location and paste to the new folder and change the name. Then import into UDT and change the properties and connection to point to your new database and republish.
You can do the same thing with IDT, just remember to rename the project, DF, and BL.
Thanks for the response, but this isn’t a universe? This is the Business Elements/Views/LOVs defined with Business View Manager.
It’s been years since I used BVM, but it used to have a feature that allowed you to have dynamic database connections that allowed you to have just the one BV and connect to select the different connections when running reports. Might be an option to explore.
