Hi all,
Am I missing something, or is it really not possible in BO 4.1.3 to
disable groups of users? For that matter, it would be nice if changes
could be applied to multiple users selected using the CTRL key. We
have a need to lock users out of the BO apps while the d/b is down for
maintenance, and there seems to be no easy way to do this.
Any ideas?
Thanks...Jason Beard

Idea 1: You could e.g. temporarily disable the “security repository login” for
that time and disable your users from working in off-line mode…
Actually, it depends on WHICH db is down for maintenance
Idea 2: if your repository setup is rather simple (not too many universe and
document repositories) you could as well disable the universe repositories from
being used. This can be done for groups. Logging in next time will leave the users
with no “granted” universes. Still there remains the problem of simply refreshing
a report which tries to use the db under discussion.
hope this helps.

I thought this was incorrect, until I verified it myself. Is it just me? Or
was this possible in an earlier version? Perhaps 4.0 instead of 4.1?
In fact, if you position your mouse over the “disable” button in Supervisor
you get a tooltip that says:
Disable/Enable User or Group
So at one time you could disable groups, I believe. Or the intention was
there to have that feature included. I am quite convinced that we used to be
able to do this. Does anyone else remember this? Or am I just crazy?
I don’t think it’s just you. You can also go into Group Properties and
you’ll see a greyed out option to “Disable all group users logins”. If you
pull up on-line help for Group Properties, it says “Disable all group users
logins: No longer available.”
