We’re using BO XI R2; Xcelsius 4.5; Office 2003.
I’ve read the Xcelsius Help on Live Office many times. I’ve read on-line tutorials. I’ve read related posts here on the BOB. And I can’t seem to make sense of any of it, and can’t make a Live Office Connector work.
As I understand it, I can create an Excel workbook and use a Live Office connection as a data source within it. I have done that. My Live Office connection however, is not made via a web server, but rather through the standard BO connection, just as if I was connecting a Crystal Report to the Repository. Connecting via a web service is not even an option that presents itself.
However, the Live Office Connector requires the use of the web service. I use the url that everyone/thing seems to indicate is correct, but nothing shows up in the Connections box, i.e. no Views. If I type the url straight into the browser, I get this:
session
Hi there, this is an AXIS service!
Perhaps there will be a form for invoking the service here…
I do not know, and can’t find anything to tell me, whether this indicates that everything is okay, or whether it indicates only that Apache Tomcat is running, but that I am not necessarily connected to the Live Office web service.
So, I have questions:
-
Does the Excel workbook have to be connected to the Business View via the web service in order to use the Live Office Connector in the Xcelsius presentation?
-
Does the message returned in the browser indicate a good connection to the Live Office web service, or only to the server? If only the server, what should I see if I connect to the web service correctly?
-
Do I understand things correctly when I believe that once I get the pieces all working, I can update the content of the worksheet that provides the data for my Xcelsius swf file by clicking the Live Office Connector?
If anyone can help me with this process, I would be very grateful.
